Rain Forecast for Texas and California After Warm Weekend
DALLAS, Texas — A warm weekend in Texas is expected to give way to rainy weather this week, with residents advised to prepare for storms beginning Wednesday.
On Saturday, Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport recorded a high of 89 degrees, a record set in 1960, according to the National Weather Service. The area is experiencing unusually high temperatures for this time of year.
The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office predicts mostly sunny skies and highs in the 80s for Sunday, but a significant weather shift is coming midweek. Forecasters expect a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday, increasing to 90% by Thursday.
The NOAA has also alerted residents of possible winds ranging from 10 to 20 mph from Monday through Wednesday night. As the rain settles in, temperatures will drop significantly, with highs expected to be 69 degrees and lows at 49 degrees by Friday.
In Central Illinois, weather patterns are also shifting, with highs in the 70s expected before a cold front brings cooler temperatures. Sunday will feature sunny skies, but highs will only reach the low 50s early next week.
Meanwhile, Southern California is bracing for more rain following a weekend storm that left many areas soaked. Light rain is forecasted for Los Angeles and surrounding areas on Monday and Tuesday, but officials warn that the saturated ground could lead to flash flooding.
The weather will continue to vary across regions, as both Texas and California prepare for the shifting forecast this coming week.
