WASHINGTON, D.C. — A coastal storm is set to bring rain and gusty winds to the Washington area this weekend. The weather is expected to start going downhill on Sunday, with showers and strong winds as a Nor’easter approaches.

According to the latest forecasts, Saturday will be the last mostly dry day before the storm system arrives. Highs are predicted to reach the upper 60s to low 70s, although scattered showers may occur later in the day.

The National Weather Service has noted that Sunday will experience cloudy and cool conditions with periods of rain and showers. Winds could gust up to 30 mph, particularly in areas east of Interstate 95. Heavy rainfall is expected, especially along the coast, creating potential travel issues.

“We’re tracking bands of rain and showers, with the heaviest impacts focused east of I 95,” said a meteorologist. “Plan for rain gear if you’re heading outdoors.”

Locally, temperatures on Sunday will only reach the mid-60s, and conditions will remain breezy. Rainfall could exceed an inch in coastal regions, while more inland areas may see about a quarter-inch.

As for Monday, the remnants of the storm will still be felt, with lingering showers possible and temperatures hovering in the lower 60s.

Weather experts advise the public to prepare for wet conditions and monitor updates for changing forecasts as the storm system develops.
