Thousands of devotees gathered at Ayodhya‘s illustrious Ram Temple on Wednesday to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami.

Sharad Sharma, spokesperson for the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), expressed the jubilation surrounding the celebrations marking the first Ram Navami at the Ram temple in Ayodhya after centuries of anticipation.

The main highlight of the day was the ‘Surya Tilak’ ceremony, scheduled for noon, in which the Sun’s rays were directed to cast a divine ’tilak’ on the forehead of Ram Lalla, the deity placed at the temple.

Prior to their temple visit, devotees immersed themselves in the sacred waters of the Saryu River, a traditional rite followed with reverence during such occasions.

This Ram Navami holds a special significance as it coincides with the consecration of the Ram idol at the new temple, a marvelous event inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this year on January 22.

An elaborate science-based system involved in the ‘Surya Tilak’ ceremony has been managed by experts from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) to ensure its precision.

During PM Modi’s visit for the Deepotsav celebration in 2022, he proposed the arcane design of the temple structure to allow the Sun’s rays to directly illuminate the Ram Lalla idol on Ram Navami.

Various security measures have been meticulously arranged by the administration in Ayodhya to handle the massive influx of devotees, ensuring a safe and peaceful atmosphere for the celebrations.

The divine connection was also augmented by the offering of 56 types of ‘bhog prasad’ at the Ram temple today, adding to the spiritual ambience of the festivities.

In addition, help booths were set up along the Mela area with timely medical and logistic assistance for the convenience of the devotees present.

Darshan timings have been extended by the temple trust, allowing devotees to attend the celebrations from the early morning Mangala Aarti all the way until 11 pm, ensuring a memorable and fulfilling experience.
