Raye Glastonbury Performance

GLASTONBURY, England — Raye made a memorable appearance at the Glastonbury Festival last summer, emerging from a giant flight case marked “Caution, contents may be fragile” to perform her latest single, “Where Is My Husband!” Her daring debut of the song energized the crowd and showcased her growth as an artist.

During her performance on the iconic Pyramid Stage, Raye, dressed in a striking black sequinned ball gown, admitted to feeling bold yet anxious. “When I think about it now, that was really bold,” she laughed after the show. Fans eagerly streamed her performance 1.2 million times before the official release of the single, which debuted in the charts at number four.

The catchy tune features a memorable bridge in which Raye expresses her desire for commitment, sparking discussions across social media platforms like TikTok. Despite the song’s success, Raye humorously shared an awkward moment when a fan expressed interest in her on a tissue. “He was really sweet, he just wasn’t my vibe,” she explained.

Raye is serious about her future, sharing insights about her personal goals. She has a five-year plan that includes releasing her album next year and taking time off for marriage and family. “Ideally, around that time, it would be nice to meet my husband,” she noted, acknowledging the anxiety many women face about balancing career and family.

Having faced challenges in the music industry, including a difficult relationship with her former record label, Raye is committed to supporting her younger sisters, Lauren and Abby-Lyn Keen, as they navigate their own music careers. “I’m fiercely protective of my girls,” Raye said, emphasizing the importance of having open conversations about respect in the studio.

On the other hand, Lauren, who performs under the name Amma, highlighted the advantages of having Raye as a sister in the industry. “Because my older sister is Raye, it’s like, ‘No!’ They won’t move to me because they’ve already hit on you,” she said. This protective dynamic among the sisters has become a vital support system amid the complexities of the music world.

Their upbringing also played a significant role in shaping their artistry. Raye and her sisters reflect fondly on their childhood spent in a nurturing environment where music and faith thrived, thanks to their parents and grandmother, Agatha Dawson-Amoah.

As Raye prepares for her upcoming tour, fans can expect an exciting blend of her latest work alongside family dynamics as they travel together. “Back in the day, we’d have war zones over hairbrushes,” Raye joked. “But now we’re just very close.” Tickets for Raye’s tour, titled “This Tour May Contain New Music,” featuring Amma and Absolutely, are now on sale.
