A series of earthquakes has been recorded in the vicinity of Mammoth Lakes, California, over the past 48 hours. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a significant earthquake occurred on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 12:55 AM local time. This earthquake had a magnitude of 3.7 and was located approximately 3.8 miles west of Mammoth Lakes in Mono County. The quake had a very shallow depth of about 5.6 miles.
In addition to this larger quake, several smaller earthquakes were also reported in the area. On the same day, a magnitude 1.6 earthquake was recorded 5 kilometers west of Mammoth Lakes at a depth of -1.1 kilometers.
