This earthquake had a magnitude of 3.7 and was located approximately 3.8 miles west of Mammoth Lakes in Mono County. The quake had a very shallow depth of about 5.6 miles.

In addition to this larger quake, several smaller earthquakes were also reported in the area. On the same day, a magnitude 1.6 earthquake was recorded 5 kilometers west of Mammoth Lakes at a depth of -1.1 kilometers.
