Recognition at Dally M Awards for NRLW Standouts
Kasey Reh, Kimberley Hunt, and Zac Lomax were all recognised for their standout performances during the Dally M Awards ceremony on Wednesday night. Kasey Reh received the NRLW Rookie of the Year Award, marking the culmination of an extraordinary year for the young athlete.
At just 18 years old, Reh led the Steelers to a Tarsha Gale Cup premiership in April, earning Player of the Series accolades. She shone again for the Under 19s Country team. Following her success as an Australian Schoolgirls representative in 2023, Reh captained the Under 19s Blues to victory and was named the NSW Under 19s Women’s State of Origin Player of the Year. Her NRLW debut for the Red V included participating in nine matches, during which she scored twice and provided two assists, displaying versatility across several positions.
Kimberley Hunt was awarded the Veronica White Medal for Woman of the Year, in recognition of her diligent community engagement, particularly through Indigenous initiatives. Originating from Tully, Hunt proudly represents her Wakaid heritage from Badu Island. Her efforts in support of the local Illawarra Aboriginal Medical Service’s Healthy Deadly Kids program significantly enhance its impact, as do her contributions to community meetings and yarning groups.
In addition to his fellow awardees, Zac Lomax was named a winger in the Dally M Team of the Year. Lomax led the Dragons in tries, runs, and offloads, while also making a historic mark by becoming one of only three players in club history to surpass 800 career points.
In another highlight of the evening, Sharks captain Tiana Penitani was celebrated for her impressive season, claiming both the NRLW Captain of the Year and Centre of the Year awards. As the Sharks prepare for the Grand Final against the Roosters, Penitani, who also assisted with broadcast interviews for Fox Sports, was praised for her leadership and prolific performance, scoring a team-high seven tries this season.
