Republicans Launch Late Push to Support Sam Brown in Nevada Senate Race
In the final stretch of the 2024 election, Republicans are making a significant last-ditch effort to support Sam Brown in the Nevada Senate race. The Senate Leadership Fund (SLF), a key GOP super PAC, is allocating $6.2 million for television, radio, and digital advertisements in Nevada to boost Brown’s campaign against incumbent Democratic Senator Jacky Rosen.
Republicans are optimistic about their chances in Nevada, citing the state’s economic challenges and a shifting trend among Latino voters towards the GOP. Nevada has a history of narrow contests, with President Joe Biden winning the state by just two points in the 2020 election and Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto securing her re-election in 2022 by fewer than 8,000 votes. Nevada GOP strategist Jeremy Hughes noted that this could be the most favorable environment for Republicans in a presidential election year in two decades.
Despite the late investment, Brown, an Army veteran and author of the Amazon #1 best seller “Alive Day,” faces a challenging race. Recent polls indicate that while former President Donald Trump is performing strongly in Nevada, Brown trails Rosen by five points, with Rosen leading 49% to 44%.
The SLF’s investment marks a significant shift in focus, as the organization has previously concentrated its efforts on other competitive Senate races in states like Montana, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. The late push in Nevada highlights the GOP’s belief that the state’s Senate seat is within reach, particularly if Trump performs well in the presidential election.
Democrats have outspent Republicans in advertising since Labor Day, with $38 million spent compared to the GOP’s $27.6 million. However, Brown’s campaign, supported by the National Republican Senatorial Committee, has increased its advertising expenditures this month.
