Robert Kraft Breakfast Club Interview

The billionaire owner of an NFL team, Robert Kraft, has openly compared former U.S. President Donald Trump to “a drunk fraternity brother” while reflecting on Trump’s time in office. Kraft, 83, shared his thoughts during an appearance on iHeartRadio’s show The Breakfast Club hosted by Charlamagne tha God.

According to Kraft, although he identified as a lifelong Democrat, he became “a social friend” of Trump in Florida during the early 1990s. Kraft recounted, “And then when my wife of blessed memory died 13 years ago, he was one of four or five people who reached out to me and was really, really nice.”

Kraft, known for his role as CEO of the New England Patriots, admitted to supporting Trump financially only once, stating, “The only donation I ever gave to him was when he called me when he got elected. And I made a strong donation to his inauguration.”

Kraft elaborated on his view of Trump’s presidency, expressing his initial optimism: “I had believed Trump would be ‘great for the economy’.” However, he described Trump’s term as “chaotic,” likening it once more to having “a drunk fraternity brother become president of the United States.”

Moreover, Kraft disclosed his decision to cut ties with Trump following the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, where supporters of Trump attempted to halt the certification of the 2020 election results by force. Kraft explained, “I was very upset by what happened on January 6. And I haven’t talked to him since then.”

In addition to discussing Trump, Kraft used the platform to promote his “Timeout Against Hate” initiative, referencing the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, as a pivotal moment. Kraft expressed concern, “I saw signs in 2019 [sic] of what was going on in Germany in the 30s and I don’t want America to be what Germany was in the 40s.”

Kraft also addressed the topic of his personal political involvement, highlighting his desire to remain inclusive: “Once you take a side politically, then you alienate people, and I want everyone in.”

In contrast, Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump’s political opponent, labeled Trump’s policy platform as “fascist” during her own appearance on The Breakfast Club. Harris noted, “The man is really quite weak,” criticizing Trump’s penchant for seeking the favor of dictators and demeaning America’s military.

This ongoing political narrative generates varied responses among the American public as the nation heads toward another election period.
