Roma and Torino Battle to a 0-0 Draw in Serie A Match

ROMA, Italy — AS Roma faced Torino in the first lunch match of the Serie A season on September 14, 2025, but neither team managed to score, resulting in a 0-0 draw at the Stadio Olimpico.
Coach Gian Piero Gasperini‘s Roma, aiming for their third consecutive victory, made key changes to the lineup, subbing in players Ferguson and Baldanzi at halftime for Dybala and El Aynaoui. The first half concluded with few notable chances for either team.
Early in the second half, Roma’s Hermoso attempted to score with a header, but it was directly at goalkeeper Israel, who made the save. A total of 62,635 fans attended the match, creating a lively atmosphere despite the lack of goals.
The match saw multiple yellow cards, including Wesley for a tackle that interrupted a Torino counterattack. Ismajli and Asllani also received yellow cards for fouls in the first half.
Gasperini spoke about his team’s performance leading up to the match, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a solid squad despite challenging transfer conditions. He highlighted the need for continued effort from his players and acknowledged that it is too early to set specific season goals.
Torino’s coach, Baroni, noted the strong defensive structure of his team, which has struggled to score in recent matches. This result leaves Torino still searching for its first win of the season after two prior matches without a goal.
Roma hopes for significant contributions from player Soulé, who is eager to break his goal drought at home. “I think about it often; I want to score at the Olimpico,” he stated post-match.
Both teams will look to improve in their next fixtures as they aim to climb the Serie A standings.
