Rsl Vs Austin Fc Match Preview

SANDY, Utah (Friday, Sept. 26, 2025) – Real Salt Lake (RSL) will host Austin FC on Saturday in a crucial match as they try to revive their 2025 MLS playoff hopes. After falling to LAFC in consecutive games, RSL drops to 12th in the Western Conference standings with 34 points, while Austin sits in 6th place with 44 points.

This match is significant for RSL, who are looking to break a two-game losing streak. Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni confirmed that forward Victor Olatunji will return from suspension, while Diego Luna and Braian Ojeda will also be available after injuries. However, they will miss 18-year-old midfielder Zavier Gozo, who will represent the United States at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

“We need to win this game to keep our playoff aspirations alive,” Mastroeni stated. “We’re highly motivated to play at home and restore our momentum.”

Despite the recent losses, RSL shows promise at home, with six wins and two draws in their last 11 matches at America First Field since June 1. In 2024, they achieved a strong home record, securing 12 wins out of 17 matches.

Last week, RSL suffered a 4-1 defeat against LAFC, with Denis Bouanga scoring a hat-trick. The team managed to score first, showcasing their ability to play aggressively, but they ultimately couldn’t hold their lead. Mastroeni noted that finding offensive consistency will be key moving forward.

“We have to capitalize on our opportunities and learn from our mistakes,” Mastroeni added.

RSL will look to capitalize on home-field advantage as they aim for a fifth consecutive playoff appearance. Tickets for Saturday’s match against Austin FC are available online.
