Sabrina Carpenter Surprises ACL Fest, Taylor Swift Rumors Swirl
AUSTIN, Texas — Sabrina Carpenter wowed thousands at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on Saturday night, bringing out pop country legend Shania Twain for a surprise performance.
Carpenter kicked off her set on the American Express stage at 8:30 p.m., but the excitement was marked by rumors that Taylor Swift would make a surprise appearance. Fans crowded Zilker Park, eagerly anticipating the possibility of Swift joining Carpenter on stage. Security measures increased as anticipation built, with an urgent message flashing on screens urging attendees to step back.
“Where’s Taylor?” screamed a fan after 30 minutes into Carpenter’s act, but the much-anticipated guest never materialized.
Twain, who headlined the festival last year, joined Carpenter for her 1997 hit “That Don’t Impress Me Much.” The performance resonated with fans celebrating Carpenter’s recent success and her new country rebranding.
Carpenter, who released the hit song “Espresso” over the summer, reflected on her connection with the audience. “Closure comes from yourself. It doesn’t come from anybody else,” she told fans.
Many fans had arrived hours before the gates opened, hoping to secure prime spots near the stage. “Make sure your kids are here,” one mother said, as she remained hopeful for a Swift appearance.
Aubrey Williams, 11, traveled from San Antonio to see Carpenter and expressed her deep connection to the artist’s music. “It speaks a lot to me,” she said while wearing a Carpenter T-shirt.
Despite raised expectations, rumors of Taylor Swift crashing the stage continued to swirl, especially following the release of her album “The Life of a Showgirl.” Swift was not listed on the festival lineup, yet the buzz lingered among fans.
The atmosphere remained electric as Carpenter’s set concluded, with the audience filled with enthusiastic supporters. Whether or not Swift made the appearance fans hoped for, it was a memorable night at ACL Fest.
