In 2019, Sam Smith publicly came out as non-binary and even updated their pronouns to they/them. However, the term ‘semibisexual’ is a made-up label created by a Tumblr troll to poke fun at the LGBTQ+ community. It implies that someone is attracted to only one gender, but that kind of contradicts the very meaning of bisexuality.
