Samsung Unveils Galaxy S25 Edge: The Slimmest Phone Yet

San Francisco, California – Samsung has officially launched its Galaxy S25 Edge, billed as the slimmest smartphone at just 5.8 mm thick. The unveiling occurred during a virtual event on May 12, with preorders starting at $1,100 ahead of the official release on May 30.

The Galaxy S25 Edge weighs only 163 grams, making it lighter than both the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra. Samsung aims to provide consumers with high-end features without sacrificing the compactness that some users desire. However, this comes at a cost: the device features a dual-camera setup instead of the traditional triple lens and has a smaller battery capacity of 3,900 mAh.

Samsung’s VP of Mobile Communications, Jane Lee, stated, “We’ve worked hard to bring a premium smartphone experience to those who prioritize thin and light devices.” The company has incorporated a 200-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens but omitted the telephoto zoom feature present in other models.

During tests, the S25 Edge showed exceptional performance with its Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and 12 GB of RAM, but battery life remains a concern, especially under heavy use. The device reportedly lasts a full day under normal circumstances, but power users might find themselves needing a portable charger.

With a 6.7-inch OLED display and impressive 120 Hz refresh rate, the Galaxy S25 Edge focuses on providing a stunning visual experience. The new titanium frame and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 enhance durability, allowing Samsung to claim that the phone is lightweight yet robust.

The Galaxy S25 Edge comes in three color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Icyblue. Pricing is set at $1,099 for the 256 GB model and $1,219 for the 512 GB version.

As excitement builds for the new release, Samsung prepares for competition with Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air, which is rumored to feature similar slim design innovations.
