Samsung Unveils Galaxy Ring, A Health Focused Smart Ring

Samsung has unveiled its latest health-focused wearable, the Galaxy Ring, during the Galaxy Unpacked event in 2024. This smart ring marks Samsung’s entry into the world of wearables beyond smartwatches. With cutting-edge health innovations, Samsung aims to revolutionize the future of healthcare.

The Galaxy Ring aims to improve body information measurement accuracy compared to the Galaxy Watch. Equipped with multiple sensors, it will collect body and health data, which users can access via their smartphones for tracking purposes. The ring’s smaller size makes it more comfortable to wear during sleep than smartwatches. Samsung plans to incorporate updates from its Health app into the Galaxy Ring, enhancing its health tracking capabilities.

The company has not yet revealed specific features or a release date for the Galaxy Ring. However, more information is expected to be announced during Samsung’s foldable smartphone launch later this year. The ring will be available in three finishes and 13 sizing options globally.

Matthew Wiggins, a clinical research scientist at Samsung Research, unveiled the ‘My Vitality Score’ feature at the launch event. This feature, which is likely to be included in the Galaxy Ring, provides users with a score indicating their physical and mental health. It takes into account data such as sleep quality, activity levels, and heart rate. The Galaxy Ring is expected to be compatible with Samsung smartphones, including the latest Galaxy S24 series.
