Saudi Arabia Marks Eid-El-Fitr Celebration on April 10, 2024
Saudi Arabia announced that the crescent of Shawwal was not sighted, signaling the continuation of fasting until Tuesday. The Kingdom declared that the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations will kick off on April 10 to commence the start of the new Islamic month.
The Saudi proclamation was issued on their official Facebook page, a dedicated channel for Muslims across the globe. According to the statement, the decision to celebrate Eid-Al Fitr on Wednesday, the 10th of April 2024, was agreed upon as the crescent moon was not observed.
An array of adherents now eagerly anticipate the announcement from the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sa’ad Abubakar, later today. The faithful maintain that the new moon heralding the beginning of Shawwal 1445 AH will drive a confirmation of the festive period.
The PUNCH – a distinguished Nigerian publication – noted the Sultan’s previous appeal, urging Muslims nationwide to anticipate the appearance of the new moon emblematic of Shawwal 1445 AH.
