Savannah Bananas Announce Expansive Growth Plans for Banana Ball
The Savannah Bananas are set for significant expansion in the upcoming years, with plans to enhance their Banana Ball events. The team, known for its unique take on baseball, has outlined a series of ambitious developments, including an expanded tour schedule and the introduction of new teams.
The 2025 season will mark the expansion of the Banana Ball league to four teams with the inclusion of the Texas Tailgaters. This addition will accompany the Bananas’ play in 18 Major League Baseball (MLB) stadiums and three football stadiums, two of which belong to the National Football League (NFL). Noteworthy venues include the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Angels stadiums, among others.
In a strategic move to enhance audience engagement, the Bananas will also be showcasing games at NFL stadiums such as Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, and Clemson Memorial Stadium, commonly known as Death Valley. Owner Jesse Cole highlighted the benefits of utilizing these large venues, explaining, “They are the largest stadiums in the country, and we are trying to entertain and take care of the most amount of fans we can.”
Cole also mentioned the potential for innovative play adaptations due to the unique dimensions of these non-baseball venues, allowing for potentially exciting changes to the game dynamics, such as altered outfield fence distances.
Further expansion is planned for 2026 with the formation of a six-team Banana Ball league featuring a comprehensive 60-game schedule nationwide. Cole expressed his vision for creating a competitive league structure that enhances the entertainment value of each game, “To do that you need to have more teams competing against each other, creating storylines.”
The forthcoming changes also include a significant addition to the Banana Ball calendar: a championship tournament hosted at Grayson Stadium, signaling the advent of a professional league setup.
