Scientists Investigate Mysterious Sphere Found in Colombia

BUGA, Colombia — A curious metal sphere discovered in Buga has sparked interest among scientists and UFO enthusiasts alike. The object was spotted in the sky on March 2 before landing in the town, according to reports on social media.
Jose Luis Velazquez, one of the researchers examining the three-layered sphere, claimed it exhibits “no welds or joints,” characteristics commonly associated with man-made objects. This has led some to speculate about its extraterrestrial origins.
Julia Mossbridge, executive director of The Institute for Love and Time (TILT) and a physicist at the University of San Diego, expressed skepticism about these claims. “It looks to me like a really cool art project,” she said, emphasizing the need for caution before jumping to conclusions.
Mossbridge framed the discovery as part of a larger conversation about human limitations and the unknown. “We are entering a time when we don’t have the control that we thought we had,” she stated. “If something shows up that doesn’t fit our model of the world, it blinds us to a bigger picture. There’s something going on that’s essentially bigger than us.”
The U.S. government continues to investigate UFO reports to assess potential national security threats. Mossbridge noted that unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs) have been observed for decades and acknowledged that even federal agencies admit there are things we do not understand.
She highlighted ongoing efforts by various coalitions, such as the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies and the Galileo Project, aimed at gathering rigorous information about what exists in our skies. “It’s important for us to collaborate internationally, especially when the sphere is found in a different country,” she explained.
Before labeling something as anomalous or a UFO, Mossbridge advised bringing such objects to specialized groups for thorough examination. She noted the value of expert assessments in determining whether materials are human-made or not.
Even though Mossbridge remains doubtful about the sphere’s extraterrestrial nature, she acknowledged that it does not negate the existence of other unexplained phenomena. The investigation into the Buga sphere continues, with scientists eager to uncover more about its origins.
