Sean Combs Arrested by Federal Authorities in New York
Sean Combs, a renowned music mogul, was apprehended by federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations on Monday evening in New York City. The arrest followed a sealed indictment issued by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, as confirmed by Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Details of the indictment are expected to be made public shortly.
Sources revealed that Combs was taken into custody at the Park Hyatt hotel located in Midtown Manhattan. He is expected to be held in federal detention and brought to court for arraignment on Tuesday, according to information provided to ABC News.
Combs’ legal representative, Marc Agnifilo, released a statement expressing disappointment over what he termed an “unjust prosecution.” Agnifilo highlighted Combs’ contributions to music and society, portraying him as a dedicated family man and community supporter. He asserted, “He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal,” urging the public to withhold judgment until all facts are revealed.
The indictment marks a significant development following a prolonged investigation into Combs, which was initially prompted by allegations put forward by his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in a civil lawsuit. Various sources have indicated that Combs steadfastly denies these allegations.
Earlier, in March, federal agents conducted searches at Combs’ residences in Los Angeles and Miami, in connection with a federal sex trafficking investigation. During these operations, Homeland Security agents reportedly seized several electronic devices to aid the continuing investigation.
