Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Faces Sentencing for Prostitution Charges on October 3

NEW YORK — Sean “Diddy” Combs is scheduled to be sentenced on October 3 after being convicted of two counts related to prostitution. His legal team is urging a federal judge to impose a sentence of no more than 14 months, including time already served. Combs has been in federal detention in Brooklyn, New York, since his arrest in September 2024.
In advance of the sentencing, over 70 letters requesting leniency were submitted to Judge Arun Subramanian. Among those writing in support were family members, friends, and former associates. Janice Combs, Diddy’s 84-year-old mother, expressed her desire to see her son reunited with his children. “I don’t know how much longer I will be around,” she wrote. “But I would love to be able to see him and his children together again.”
Combs was convicted in July after a six-week trial that included serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, which he was acquitted of. Each transportation charge he was convicted of carries a maximum sentence of 10 years. Prosecutors initially sought a minimum sentence of four to five years, but they plan to present a stronger argument at the upcoming sentencing.
Combs’ attorneys have criticized the probation department’s recommendation for a longer sentence, claiming it “grossly overstates the seriousness of the offense.” They highlighted Combs’ good behavior while incarcerated and noted that he has developed a program aimed at teaching entrepreneurship to fellow inmates.
His adopted sister Keisha wrote about the positive changes she has observed in him during his time in detention, particularly emphasizing his sobriety. “The dark veil of addiction is gone,” she said. Support letters also came from his children, who painted a picture of Combs as a caring father. Christian Combs, one of his sons, said, “Please let my father out of jail! He does not deserve to be there and I know this from the bottom of my heart!”
As the sentencing date approaches, the fallout from his conviction continues to impact Combs’ career and family life. His lawyers argue that his household name has been tarnished and that his children have faced significant hardships since his incarceration, including lost opportunities tied to their father’s legal troubles.
While Diddy’s lawyers argue in favor of leniency, the upcoming hearing will reveal whether the court will consider their requests. Combs remains hopeful for a chance to be reconnected with his family soon as he awaits his fate.
