Sen. Tim Scott Announces Bid for NRSC Chair, Gathers High-Profile Endorsements
U.S. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina has officially announced his bid to run for the chairmanship of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC). This move comes on the heels of Republicans gaining control of the U.S. Senate in the 2024 election.
Scott, who will also serve as the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “Let’s do this I’m running for NRSC Chair because two years of a Republican agenda is good, but four years of success under Donald J. Trump is even better.” He emphasized the potential for low inflation, secure borders, and safe streets, leading to a generation of American prosperity under Republican leadership.
Scott, a close ally of President Donald J. Trump, had previously run for president before endorsing Trump in early 2024. He was also considered as a potential running mate for Trump before the president-elect chose Ohio Senator JD Vance.
Scott’s bid has garnered significant support, including endorsements from current NRSC Chair Sen. Steve Daines, Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso, and Sen. Marco Rubio. Daines praised Scott, saying, “There is no one I trust more to protect the majority in 2026 than Tim Scott.” Barrasso and Rubio also highlighted Scott’s inspiring message, fundraising record, and vision for the party as key reasons for their support.
The Republican leadership elections, where Scott’s bid will be decided, are scheduled to take place on November 13. If successful, Scott will play a crucial role in the GOP‘s efforts to maintain and expand their Senate majority in the 2026 elections.
