Chris Wright Liberty Energy Ceo Senate Confirmation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Senate confirmed Chris Wright, CEO of Liberty Energy Inc., as the new Secretary of Energy on Monday night in a bipartisan 59-38 vote. Wright, who has led Liberty Energy since 2011, will now spearhead President Donald Trump‘s ambitious energy agenda, which includes boosting domestic energy production and rolling back climate regulations.

Wright’s confirmation comes as Trump has prioritized energy policy during his first two weeks in office. The president declared an “energy emergency” on his first day, lifted the Biden administration’s pause on liquefied natural gas exports, and repealed several climate standards set by the previous administration.

During his confirmation hearing, Wright emphasized his commitment to unleashing American energy production. “My first focus will be on ensuring that the United States remains a global leader in energy innovation and production,” Wright told lawmakers. His vision aligns closely with Trump’s “Drill, baby, drill” agenda, which seeks to maximize domestic fossil fuel output.

Wright’s nomination received bipartisan support, with several senators praising his industry experience and leadership at Liberty Energy. “Chris Wright brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record in the energy sector,” said Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. “His expertise will be invaluable as we work to strengthen our nation’s energy independence.”

Liberty Energy, founded by Wright in 2011, has grown into one of the largest oilfield services companies in the U.S., specializing in hydraulic fracturing and other energy extraction technologies. Wright’s leadership has been credited with driving innovation and efficiency in the sector.

As Energy Secretary, Wright will oversee a department responsible for advancing energy technology, managing the nation’s nuclear arsenal, and implementing the president’s energy policies. His confirmation marks a significant step in Trump’s efforts to reshape the nation’s energy landscape.

Former Energy Secretary Rick Perry, who appeared on ‘Fox News Live‘ to discuss Trump’s executive orders, expressed confidence in Wright’s ability to lead. “Chris Wright is the right person for the job,” Perry said. “He understands the challenges and opportunities in the energy sector and will work tirelessly to ensure America’s energy dominance.”

Wright is expected to be sworn in later this week, after which he will begin collaborating with Trump and other administration officials to advance the president’s energy agenda over the next four years.
