Chinese Plot Fake Driver's Licenses Election

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Senate Judiciary Committee is investigating allegations that the Chinese government produced fake U.S. driver’s licenses to influence the 2020 presidential election in favor of Joe Biden. This follows the FBI‘s recent revelation about the matter.

On Monday, FBI Director Kash Patel declassified a document outlining the allegations, which were first raised back in August 2020. The Senate Judiciary Chairman, Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, has been demanding transparency about the report since law enforcement did not fully investigate the claims initially.

The document suggests that the Chinese government allegedly exported a large quantity of counterfeit U.S. driver’s licenses to Chinese sympathizers in the U.S., who could then cast votes for Biden. However, it remains unclear whether any ballots were actually submitted as part of this supposed scheme.

A spokesperson for Grassley stated, “The document alleges serious national security concerns that need to be fully investigated by the FBI.” The allegations claim that the fraudulent licenses would contain real U.S. citizens’ information, making them difficult to detect.

Additional details from the report suggest that these fake licenses were to enable tens of thousands of Chinese immigrants to participate in voting, despite being ineligible. The FBI noted that the allegations were not assessed or corroborated before being recalled for further investigation.

Patel stated, “Thanks to the oversight work and partnership of Chairman Grassley, the FBI continues to provide unprecedented transparency at the people’s Bureau.” Grassley is pushing for further information from the FBI, particularly regarding the circumstances under which the document was recalled.

Customs and Border Protection officials reported intercepting nearly 20,000 shipments of fake documents from China during the period leading up to the 2020 election. This raises questions about whether the earlier allegations had any basis in fact.

The FBI’s handling of the report, which included a recommendation to destroy all copies, has drawn scrutiny, with Grassley requesting complete transparency in this matter.
