Brian Kilmeade And Senator Shelley Moore Capito

Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) recently discussed her interactions with some of President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet picks during an interview with Brian Kilmeade on his radio show. Capito shared her impressions after meeting with Pete Hegseth, who is being considered for a role at the Department of Defense (DOD), and Kash Patel, a potential candidate for the FBI director position.

Capito mentioned that her meeting with Hegseth involved discussions on his vision for a strong military and the DOD, as well as addressing some of the personal issues that have been in the headlines. She emphasized that Hegseth needs to present his case to the Armed Services Committee and noted that he is actively engaging in one-on-one meetings on Capitol Hill, which she believes is necessary for his nomination process.

Regarding her meeting with Kash Patel, Capito expressed that Patel has a good vision for the FBI but raised questions about some inflammatory content in his book. Despite these concerns, Capito indicated that she is leaning towards supporting both Hegseth and Patel, although she wants to wait for the process to move forward, including the completion of FBI background checks.

Capito also touched on her upcoming meeting with Tulsi Gabbard, another potential cabinet pick, and stated that she would like to hear Gabbard’s stance on Syria following the fall of Assad. Additionally, Capito discussed what the GOP-led Senate can do in 2025 to address the financial aspects of the Inflation Reduction Act.
