Severe Storms Likely This Weekend in North Texas
DALLAS, Texas – Severe thunderstorms are expected to roll through North Texas this weekend, bringing high winds and the potential for hail.
Meteorologist Ali Turiano warns that after a warm Friday with temperatures nearing 90 degrees, a strong weather system will impact the area Saturday. The most active weather is anticipated from late morning into the afternoon.
Skies are expected to be mostly cloudy on Saturday, with some showers and storms developing, possibly becoming severe after noon. Wind gusts may reach between 55 to 60 mph, and hail could be as large as a quarter in size. The tornado risk remains low and primarily east of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The storms are projected to move eastward in the afternoon, leading to a quiet evening. Residents are encouraged to stay cautious and keep an eye on the forecast.
By Sunday, cooler air is forecasted to settle in, with temperatures dropping into the 50s at night and highs reaching the upper 70s to near 80 degrees during the day. After a cool start on Monday, sunny skies will return, although a second cold front may drop temperatures back into the 70s.
Following the storms, meteorologists anticipate that next week will see additional rain chances as more disturbances approach North Texas, but highs should generally stay in the upper 80s and low 90s.
Forecasters from the FOX 4 Weather Team emphasize that while severe weather is possible, not all areas will experience these conditions. Residents should remain vigilant.
