Bay Area Storm Weather Forecast

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Rain is expected to return to the Bay Area this weekend, according to forecast reports from ABC7 News. The rain began lightly in the North Bay on Sunday afternoon and is projected to intensify throughout the evening, impacting various regions including the Peninsula, East Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains, and Santa Clara Valley.

This weather system has been rated light on the exclusive ABC7 Storm Impact Scale but is expected to bring significant gusty winds along with the rainfall. A WIND ADVISORY currently in effect for most of the Bay Area indicates gusts could reach up to 45 miles per hour, raising concerns for downed tree limbs and potential power outages.

The WIND ADVISORY is active from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for the North Bay, and from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. for other affected regions. Meanwhile, a WINTER STORM WARNING has been issued for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area, where up to 3 feet of snow is anticipated starting at 5 p.m. and lasting until 11 p.m. the following day.

Looking ahead, the weather will bring mainly scattered showers on Monday, with some isolated downpours expected. Although the WIND ADVISORY will expire, gusts may persist up to 30 miles per hour. Forecasts indicate partial clearing by Monday night, leading to a mainly sunny and mild Tuesday.

However, the weather pattern is expected to remain unsettled for the remainder of the week, with more rain forecasted on Wednesday and lingering clouds extending into Thursday and Friday. A warming trend is predicted to begin next weekend.
