One user expressed worry about their son’s girlfriend, who was reportedly taking shelter in a store within the mall, stating, “Ok people what the hell is happening at Yorkdale Mall?? My son’s girlfriend is there and said she’s hiding in a store because someone had a gun???” Another tweet featured a video capturing the tense atmosphere, with the user simply stating, “People freaking out at Yorkdale mall.”

However, it is worth noting that the incident caused disruptions in transportation services. Go Transit, a regional bus service, tweeted about delays on certain routes due to the police investigation at Yorkdale Mall. “Route 92: Buses are delayed up to 30 minutes due to an earlier police investigation at Yorkdale Mall.
