Social Media Influencer Martins Otse Claims Presidency Endorsement for NGO

A noted figure on social media, Martins Otse, who is widely recognized by his online persona ‘VeryDarkMan‘, has announced that he received communication from the Nigerian presidency regarding his newly established Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). Otse, who shared this development through a post and accompanying video on his Instagram page @verydarkblackman, made the statement on Saturday, according to reports by PUNCH Online.

The NGO, as described by Otse, is focused on the enhancement of community development and the strengthening of public schools in Nigeria. He has extended his appeal for support to notable personalities such as musician Davido and nightlife promoter, Cubana Chief Priest, while assuring transparency and accountability in the operations of his organization.

In a subsequent post on Sunday, Otse revealed that his NGO had amassed over N33 million within just 24 hours, an amount that was reportedly increasing continually. He shared a screenshot depicting the donation total and expressed his gratitude towards contributors, noting that a significant number of supportive individuals donated relatively small amounts, primarily N500 or less, which he highlighted as indicative of their dedication despite financial limitations.

A later post on Sunday evening saw Otse claiming a direct call from the Presidency where he was allegedly commended for his societal contributions. In a tongue-in-cheek comment, Otse suggested that given the large sum he had managed to gather, the government might turn to him for financial assistance. He referenced the substantial borrowing by President Tinubu‘s administration, which has reportedly accrued $6.45 billion in loans from the World Bank within a span of 16 months.

Additionally, Otse emphasized his commitment to enhancing transparency among Nigerian NGOs as part of his projects, asserting, “I go cast NGO for this country, make una dey watch.”
