Seeking to secure necessary solar eclipse glasses for Monday’s celestial event, a crowd gathered in Kitchener as Bell Media organized a giveaway event.

Hundreds of hopeful individuals stood in line at the Kitchener location, eagerly waiting for a chance at obtaining the coveted solar eclipse glasses. The queue wrapped around the building, illustrating the high demand for these safety glasses.

By 1 p.m., all the glasses had been exhausted, leaving many disappointed as they were unable to acquire the essential eyewear for viewing the solar eclipse.

A crucial reminder emerged regarding the quality and safety of solar viewing glasses, as some were warned not to use glasses that had not been approved by the American Astronomical Society due to potential risks.

Additional caution was advised to Ontarians as they readied for Monday’s solar eclipse, emphasizing the need for approved filtered lenses complying with the ISO 12312-2 international standard for safe viewing.
