Solidstar Claims His Song ‘One In A Million’ Inspired a New Sound in Nigerian Music Industry
Renowned singer, Joshua Iniyezo, professionally known as Solidstar, has asserted that his chart-topping track, ‘One In A Million,’ served as a catalyst for a fresh wave of music in the Nigerian entertainment sphere.
Speaking during an episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Solidstar disclosed that his distinct musical style often led many to mistake him for a Ghanaian artist, highlighting the unique essence he brought to the music scene.
He specifically pointed out that the remix of ‘One In A Million’ featuring 2Baba was the muse behind P-Square‘s hit song ‘Possibility,’ where the same artist was featured, showcasing the ripple effect of his musical innovation.
Recounting his breakthrough, Solidstar remarked, ‘It was ‘One In A Million’ that opened doors for me in the industry. I clinched the Best New Artist accolade at the prestigious Nigerian Music Video Awards with that track. There was a misconception that I was from Ghana due to my unconventional style at the time.’
‘The song altered the musical landscape in Nigeria. It even inspired P-Square’s ‘Possibility’ featuring 2Baba. I introduced a unique tempo in that track, setting a trend that many artists emulated thereafter,’ Solidstar added.
