Southwest Airlines Plane Struck by Gunfire at Dallas Love Field, No Injuries Reported
A Southwest Airlines plane preparing for departure from Dallas Love Field Airport was struck by a bullet on Friday night, forcing the cancellation of the flight. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. as the Boeing 737-800 aircraft, operating as Flight 2494, was taxiing before its scheduled departure to Indianapolis International Airport.
No injuries were reported, and the passengers safely exited the plane after it returned to the gate. The aircraft was subsequently removed from service for inspection and repair.
The bullet struck the right side of the aircraft just under the flight deck, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement. The Dallas Police Department was called to the scene, and the runway 13R/31L was temporarily closed for investigation. However, it was reopened later that night with minimal impact on the airport’s operations.
Dallas Love Field Airport and Southwest Airlines confirmed that the passengers would be accommodated on another flight. The incident is currently under investigation by the Dallas Police Department, with no arrests or further details on the source of the gunfire provided as of yet.
