Speculation Surrounds Duduzane Zuma’s Potential Role in Father’s Party
Rumors have surfaced this week regarding the possibility of Duduzane Zuma assuming a leadership role in the Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, founded by his father, former president Jacob Zuma. However, the party swiftly dismissed these claims as “pure speculation.”
The conjecture began after Duduzane Zuma attended a memorial service for six MK party members who tragically lost their lives in a taxi accident. These individuals were en route to participate in the birthday celebrations of Jacob Zuma’s first wife, Sizakele MaKhumalo.
Despite the MK party’s rejection of the notion that Duduzane is set to join, sources within the party reportedly indicated that discussions about his potential involvement have taken place. According to an undisclosed insider, “It will not be long before this is announced. He has already hinted that he will be joining.”
The insider further suggested that Duduzane had considered forming his own political party before the next elections but decided that joining the established MKP would be a more viable option.
Duduzane Zuma previously captured national attention with his political endeavor, the All Game Changers (AGC), formed ahead of South Africa’s general elections. However, the party was removed from the electoral race by the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) due to non-compliance with registration processes.
Meanwhile, Duduzane’s twin sister, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, is already active within the MK party, holding a position as a Member of the Pan-African Parliament as of her swearing-in earlier this week.
Observers note that Duduzane Zuma’s potential in the political arena is bolstered by his experience and connections within South Africa’s business community, which could prove advantageous for the MK party.
