NEW YORK, N.Y. — Actors Patricia Heaton and Zachary Levi joined the TODAY show on February 18, 2025, to discuss their upcoming film, ‘The Unbreakable Boy,’ which is based on the true story of Austin, a boy living with autism and brittle bone disease.

Heaton and Levi shared insights into their experiences while filming and emphasized the importance of accurately portraying Austin’s courageous journey. The film, adapted from a book, will hit theaters on February 21, 2025, under the Lionsgate banner.

During the segment, the actors revealed they screened ‘The Unbreakable Boy’ for Austin at his local theater where he works, making it a heartwarming experience. Heaton remarked, ‘It was an emotional moment to see him react to the film and to see the joy it brought him.’

The film not only highlights Austin’s struggles but also celebrates his spirit and resilience. Director Jon Gunn described the film as focusing on the human story that connects to audiences, adding, ‘It’s about finding hope in adversity.’

Levi, who is expecting his first child with girlfriend Maggie Keating, was also able to gather parenting advice from Heaton. She shared tips on raising children with compassion and understanding, reflecting on her own experiences as a mother.

In addition to ‘The Unbreakable Boy,’ Gunn mentioned that he is also preparing for the release of his epic adaptation, ‘House of David,’ which is set to come out on the same day, February 21, 2025.
