Stevie Nicks Shares 1973 Letter About Lindsey Buckingham and Their Music

Southern California, CA – Stevie Nicks recently shared a letter she wrote to her family back in 1973, revealing her thoughts while she and Lindsey Buckingham were recording their album, Buckingham Nicks. The letter, posted on Instagram, coincides with the reissuing of the album.
Nicks, the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman, reflected on their collaboration during that period, noting the hard work they put into creating music. In her letter, she mentioned a song called ‘Don’t Let Me Down Again’ and praised Lindsey’s guitar skills. ‘Lindsey may go down in history as one of “greats” in guitar playing,’ she wrote, highlighting her admiration for him.
At the time, Nicks was feeling fatigued from the long recording hours, sharing, ‘I am getting very tired of sitting around listening to 12 hours of music per day.’ However, she remained optimistic about the future, imagining herself in a luxurious Beverly Hills home.
Nicks also made light of her upcoming 25th birthday, saying it deserved a ‘gala celebration,’ which she asked her family to plan. ‘Presents will be accepted any time after the first of May,’ she jokingly added.
The letter, which Nicks revealed had been tucked away for over 50 years, underscores the connection and history between the two musicians, whose romantic relationship shaped much of Fleetwood Mac’s acclaimed album, Rumours. ‘I certainly do miss you all, and wish you could be here,’ Nicks concluded, expressing her longing for family support during that significant time in her life.
