C.J. Stroud Looks to Rebound in 2025 NFL Season

HOUSTON, Texas — C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans quarterback, aims to recover from a challenging 2024 season as he prepares for the 2025 NFL season. After winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year title in 2023, Stroud’s performance declined last year, throwing for 3,727 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, a stark contrast to his rookie numbers.
Factors contributing to Stroud’s dip in production included injuries to key pass-catchers, ineffective play calling, and a struggling offensive line. Despite these setbacks, the Texans managed to claim the AFC South title and advanced to the Divisional Round in the playoffs.
This offseason, the Texans made significant moves to enhance their offense. They acquired Christian Kirk from the Jaguars and drafted Iowa State rookies Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Lane, bolstering Stroud’s receiving options. Stefon Diggs, who tore his ACL last season, is now with the Patriots. Additionally, Tank Dell will be sidelined due to a knee injury.
New offensive coordinator Nick Caley, previously with the Los Angeles Rams, aims to ignite the Texans’ offense after the departure of Bobby Slowik. The Texans also added Aireontae Ersery, Cam Robinson, and others to their offensive line, hoping to provide Stroud with better protection.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Stroud remains in the low-end QB2 fantasy range. Although he hopes to improve upon last year’s disappointing statistics, the lack of rushing ability could cap his fantasy ceiling. With Nico Collins as his primary target, Stroud has the potential to redeem himself, but he still faces uncertainty as the season begins.
