PARIS, France — Studiocanal is teaming up with French producer Hugo Selignac for the new film ‘Full Phil,’ featuring actors Woody Harrelson, Emma Mackey, and Charlotte Le Bon. The film will be distributed in France by Diaphana and has already been pre-bought by Canal+.

‘Full Phil’ tells the story of Philip Doom, an affluent American industrialist portrayed by Harrelson, who tries to reconnect with his daughter Madeleine, played by Stewart, during a lavish trip to Paris. However, their vacation is disrupted by French cuisine, a 1950s horror film, and a bothersome hotel employee, according to the film’s synopsis.

Filmed entirely in Paris, ‘Full Phil’ will use Dupieux’s regular French crew despite featuring American actors. This is not Dupieux’s first English-language production; he previously directed ‘Rubber‘ in California, showcasing his unique approach to filmmaking.

Known for his bold and absurdist style, Dupieux’s previous film ‘The Second Act‘ was a commercial success, premiering at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. It humorously tackled French actors adapting to the #MeToo movement while filming a romantic comedy.

Selignac, whose company Chi-Fou-Mi is part of Mediawan, expressed excitement about American actors resonating with Dupieux’s films. He noted that the reception to ‘The Second Act’ inspired actors to explore humor that challenges conventional boundaries.

‘Full Phil’ marks the eighth collaboration between Selignac and Dupieux in just six years, following other successful films like ‘Mandibules’ and ‘Smoking Causes Coughing.’ Selignac believes Dupieux’s knack for writing exceptional roles and dialogue contributes to his acclaim among both local and international audiences.

Selignac’s partnership with Studiocanal has been fruitful, backing 13 films, including the notable ‘Beating Hearts’ and thrillers ‘The Stronghold‘ and ‘November.’ The new film ‘Full Phil’ is set to make waves in theaters, boasting a promising ensemble and a unique storyline.
