Superfan Xaviar Babudar Sentenced to 32 Years for Bank Robberies

TULSA, Okla. — Xaviar Babudar, known as ‘ChiefsAholic,’ was sentenced to 32 years in state prison on May 12 after pleading guilty to a series of bank robberies across the Midwest. Babudar, 30, was previously serving a 17½-year federal sentence for robbing banks in seven states.
The sentencing comes after Babudar was arrested in December 2022 for robbing the Tulsa Teachers Credit Union in Bixby, Oklahoma. During the robbery, he threatened a bank teller with a black CO2 pistol and fled with $150,000. Authorities apprehended him shortly after the incident.
Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler expressed frustration with Babudar’s initial lengthy federal sentence. ‘It was offensive to me that a serial robber could victimize so many hard-working Americans and only receive 17½ years,’ he said, noting the trauma suffered by the victims.
In March, Babudar pleaded guilty to robbery with a firearm, assault while masked, and removing an electronic monitoring device. His lawyers indicated that his actions were driven by a gambling addiction and a difficult upbringing.
After his arrest for the Bixby robbery, Babudar was released on bond but later removed his GPS tracking device and went on the run. He was ultimately captured by the FBI in July 2023 after committing additional robberies in several states, including Nevada and California.
Despite his criminal record, his legal team argued that he showed remorse and was making efforts to change, claiming he had found religion during his time in custody. However, many of his victims, including former bank teller Payton Garcia, are still grappling with the impacts of the robbery.
Babudar will serve the state and federal sentences concurrently. After completing his federal time, he will be transferred to an Oklahoma penitentiary to serve the remaining years of his state sentence.
