The Supreme Court has made a significant call for doctors across the country to put an end to their protests and return to their duties. This decision comes after a series of nationwide demonstrations sparked by the tragic case of a trainee doctor who was raped and murdered in Kolkata.

Doctors have been on strike for over ten days, voicing their concerns over safety and security in the healthcare system. The protests have severely impacted medical services, leaving many patients waiting for care.

During the hearing, Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, who is leading the case concerning this unfortunate incident, expressed deep concern for the safety of both junior and senior doctors. The Court emphasized that the ongoing strike is causing serious disruptions in medical services, which in turn is making patients suffer.

In response to the situation, the Supreme Court has established a national task force dedicated to addressing the safety of medical professionals. This task force will focus on ensuring that doctors work in safe conditions and that preventative measures are put in place to avoid further incidents.

Chief Justice Chandrachud urged doctors to return to work quickly, stating, ‘The protection and welfare of all healthcare professionals are critical, and we are taking actions to safeguard their interests.’ The Court aims to develop a comprehensive plan to improve the working conditions within hospitals across India.
