Survivor Season 48 Contestants Fiji Premiere

NEW YORK, New York — The highly anticipated season 48 of the reality series Survivor premieres tonight, February 26, at 8 PM ET/PT on CBS and Paramount+ with Showtime, featuring 18 new castaways battling it out for the coveted title of Sole Survivor and a $1 million cash prize.

For more than two decades, Survivor has captivated audiences by placing contestants on remote islands where they must outwit and outplay one another. The latest season is set in Fiji‘s stunning Mamanuca Islands, where castaways are divided into three tribes: Vula, Lagi, and Civa.

“It is a social experiment, in that it takes a group of people who don’t know each other, and forces them to rely on each other, while playing this game where you vote each other out,” said Jeff Probst, the show’s longtime host and executive producer.

After Rachel Lamont’s victory in season 47, Survivor returns with a diverse new cast, including a debate professor, a stunt performer, and a music executive. Filming for season 48 lasted for 26 days, completed in July 2024, and is among the largest television productions globally.

Tonight’s two-hour premiere episode, titled “The Get to Know You Game,” sets the stage for the season’s drama and competition. Following the premiere, new episodes will air every Wednesday, while Paramount+ Essential subscribers can catch episodes the day after their CBS broadcast. Although CBS has not confirmed the total number of episodes, previous seasons typically feature around 13 installments.

Probst highlighted the intensity of the game, which challenges competitors both physically and mentally. “You can’t really passively watch Survivor. You need to be engaged because there’s so much strategy involved,” he said.

Viewers without cable access can stream Survivor through various live TV services that include CBS, such as YouTube TV and Hulu Live. Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers can also watch live streams of the episodes.

Alongside the excitement of season 48, Survivor fans are already buzzing about the milestone 50th season, where viewers will reportedly have significant input over key game elements, a first in the show’s history.

The following players will compete in season 48:

1. Vula Tribe: Stephanie Berger (38, New York), Saiounia ‘Sai’ Hughley (30, California), Kevin Leung (34, California), Cedrek McFadden (45, South Carolina), Justin Pioppi (29, Massachusetts), Mary Zheng (31, Pennsylvania)
