Sydney Metro Line Finally Opens

The new Sydney Metro line is officially open, and commuters are excited! The much-anticipated extension from Chatswood to Sydenham kicked off service early Monday morning.

Thousands of people hopped on the metro for the first time, eager to experience the new line. The very first train left Sydenham at 4:54 am, travelling to Chatswood, taking just 22 minutes to complete the journey. Talk about a time saver!

Passengers at Central Station were buzzing with excitement. Many were trying out the new metro by heading over to the platforms to check it out, taking photos along the way. The trains are driverless, modern, and designed with the latest technology.

Jo Haylen, the New South Wales Transport Minister, rode the first train with her son and noted the enthusiasm in the air. She mentioned that they expect up to 200,000 people to use the line by the end of the day.

For commuters like Mark from Wolli Creek, the new service means a quicker trip to work. He’ll save around 15 minutes on his journey to Macquarie Park. Other commuters are also thrilled with their shorter travel times.

Early morning crowds at Sydenham Station were large, but it was a friendly atmosphere as everyone celebrated the opening. Premier Chris Minns called it a successful start, and there were no major problems reported.

The line, which has been in the works since 2017, now includes five new stations: Crows Nest, Victoria Cross, Barangaroo, Gadigal, and Waterloo. Commuters will benefit from the new route, with trains running every four minutes during peak hours.

People returning to work were not only happy with the new travel options but also excited by the sleek design of the new stations. The new Crows Nest and Victoria Cross stations feature unique architecture and art, making the journey even more enjoyable.
