Geelong Football Club’s midfielder Tanner Bruhn has recently come under the spotlight after being interviewed by Victoria Police concerning an alleged sexual assault incident. The discussions with the police occurred at Geelong Police Station last Thursday. Bruhn, along with another unnamed man, was questioned by detectives from the Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team regarding an event that allegedly took place in the suburb of Belmont in Geelong on February 5, 2023.

A Victoria Police spokesperson indicated that neither Bruhn nor his associate was arrested following the interview. “Police have interviewed two men as part of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault in February 2023,” the spokesperson stated. “The men were released pending further investigation into the matter.”

The Australian Football League (AFL) is currently aware of the investigation but has opted not to comment further since it is an active police matter. AFL spokesman Jay Allen stated, “As it is a Victoria Police investigation, we are not in a position to make any further comment at this time.” It is understood that Geelong Football Club has been contacted for further comments.

Tanner Bruhn hails from the Geelong area and made a move to his local club, the Geelong Cats, ahead of the 2023 season after being initially drafted by Greater Western Sydney (GWS). Since joining the Cats, Bruhn has played 36 games, including appearances in both finals this past season. Prior to his transfer, he had played 30 games with the GWS Giants.
