Telangana CM Seeks PM Modi’s Support for State Development
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of Telangana openly expressed his desire for Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s assistance in the state’s development during a public rally held in Adilabad. Referring to the Prime Minister as his ‘big brother,’ Reddy emphasized the need for collaboration between the Centre and states for progress.
Reddy highlighted the importance of following the Gujarat model for development and urged PM Modi to support Telangana in achieving similar growth. He underscored the significance of inclusive development for all sections of society, particularly the marginalized.
In his address, Reddy made a plea for the Prime Minister’s backing in key projects such as the metro rail in Hyderabad. He drew parallels between the development initiatives in Gujarat and the aspirations of Telangana, signaling a willingness to contribute to India’s ambitious economic targets.
The CM’s approach marked a departure from the previous stance of K Chandrasekhar Rao, the former head of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, who had chosen to stay away from PM Modi’s visits. Reddy’s gesture of welcoming the Prime Minister with respect signified a shift towards a more collaborative relationship between the state and the Centre.
During PM Modi’s visit to Adilabad, he inaugurated multiple infrastructure projects totaling Rs 6,697 crore, including the second unit of the NTPC plant. The Prime Minister’s agenda in Telangana ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections underscored the political significance of the region.
As the political landscape evolves in Telangana with the Congress in power, Reddy’s call for unity and cooperation with the Centre sets a new tone for governance in the state. The interaction between the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister symbolizes a shift towards constructive engagement for mutual development.
PM Modi’s upcoming engagements in Telangana, including the launch of the Civil Aviation Research Organisation in Begumpet and the unveiling of projects in Sangareddy, reflect the government’s focus on regional development and collaboration in the run-up to the elections.
