Texas Lottery Hits $73.5 Million Jackpot, Eighth Largest in History
AUSTIN, Texas — Monday’s “Lotto Texas” drawing offered a staggering $73.5 million jackpot, marking the eighth-largest prize in the game’s history. The cash value for the jackpot was estimated at $39.6 million, with the potential to roll over to $73.75 million if no winner emerged.
The Texas Lottery has seen a surge in high-value prizes recently, with three second-tier prizes of $1 million or more won in Powerball and Mega Millions over the past week. “Texas has recently been a lucky place for big lottery wins,” said Ryan Mindell, executive director of the Texas Lottery.
Lotto Texas, a popular state lottery game, requires players to select six numbers from a pool of 54. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 25.8 million. Despite the long odds, the game continues to attract millions of hopeful participants, especially as jackpots grow to record-breaking amounts.
If no one matches all six numbers in Monday’s drawing, the jackpot will roll over to Wednesday’s drawing, increasing to an estimated $73.75 million. The Texas Lottery encourages players to check their tickets promptly and responsibly.
