Texas Stimulus Check News

AUSTIN, Texas — Residents of Texas are wondering if they will receive any stimulus checks or tax rebates next year. Despite ongoing discussions about property tax relief in New Jersey and potential stimulus payments in New York, Texas appears to be left out of such plans for 2025.

Recent chatter surrounding a fourth stimulus check has not resulted in any formal proposals, as congressional approval would be required for any federal payments. The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an organization initiated by former President Donald Trump, aims to streamline government operations and cut costs. However, this effort has not led to new stimulus checks.

Trump suggested using revenue from increased tariffs to fund consumer rebates similar to earlier pandemic relief checks. In February, he also proposed $5,000 stimulus payments as a “DOGE dividend” during a Miami summit, designed to return savings from reduced government spending to taxpayers. However, specifics regarding this proposal have not been disclosed, and it remains uncertain if it will be implemented.

In Texas, the lottery for federal rebates seems unlikely due to the absence of a state income tax, complicating rebate programs tied to earnings. Instead, Texas residents have primarily benefited from property tax reductions and other types of federal assistance aimed at easing the financial burden.

Governor Greg Abbott recently signed a historic $18 billion property tax relief package, which included decreasing school tax rates and elevating the homestead exemption. A similar relief plan was passed in the state legislature in June 2025, with voters facing additional cuts in a forthcoming ballot this November.

As of now, expectations for inflation refund checks in Texas remain low, as state officials have not indicated any plans to follow New York’s approach.
