Texas Urges Residents to Register for Upcoming General Election
On September 17, 2024, in Austin, Texas, the state’s Secretary of State, Jane Nelson, marked National Voter Registration Day by urging all Texans to ensure they are registered for the upcoming November General Election. Highlighting the limited time left for registration, she emphasized the importance of voter participation in the democratic process.
“Texans have just a few short weeks left to register to vote, and I want to ensure all eligible Texans who want to make their voices heard are registered and prepared to do so,” stated Secretary Nelson. Texans are encouraged to create a voting plan and verify their voter status to ensure their participation in the election.
To accommodate the state’s voters, directions on registering and updating existing voter registrations are readily available. Importantly, residents must be registered at least 30 days prior to the election, and there is no requirement for voters to declare a party affiliation at the time of registration.
Registered voters can confirm their registration status through the official website of the Texas Secretary of State. For additional information on registration and deadlines for vote-by-mail, residents can visit VoteTexas.gov or call the toll-free number 1-800-252-VOTE for support.
