Tigers Set for Matchup Against Red Sox with New Lineup Changes

DETROIT, MI — The Detroit Tigers will face the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night at Comerica Park, starting at 6:40 p.m. ET. Left-handed pitcher Tyler Holton will serve as the opener for the Tigers while righty Keider Montero, who has made four starts in the majors this year, is expected to pitch behind him.
The Tigers enter the game with a record of 27-15, sitting at the top of the American League, while the Red Sox come in with a 22-21 record. This will be the first time the Tigers have used a non-traditional starting arrangement this season.
In lineup news, Trevor Story will not start for Boston, marking just his fourth absence in 44 games this season. David Hamilton will take over at shortstop instead, batting eighth. Story is struggling, only hitting .122 over the last three weeks, leading manager Alex Cora to express hope that a day off could help him reset.
Hamilton has struggled as well, with a .180 batting average this season in 20 games. The Red Sox lineup will include Nick Sogard at first base and Carlos Narváez behind the plate. Brayan Bello, boasting a 2.01 ERA, will start for Boston.
The Tigers also announced the recall of Keider Montero, who takes Casey Mize‘s spot in the rotation. Montero is coming off a strong outing where he allowed just one run in eight innings.
Fans can watch the game on NESN and TBS, and listen on WEEI 93.7 FM. Tonight’s matchup promises to be an exciting one with both teams looking to gain traction as the season progresses.
