Tragic Car Accident Claims the Life of 7-Year-Old Girl in Tyler
A devastating car accident occurred in Tyler, Texas on Sunday evening, resulting in the tragic death of a 7-year-old girl. The incident took place at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Highway 64, about two miles west of the city.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the driver, 18-year-old Sharya L. Snow from Tyler, was operating a 2018 Kia Forte. Snow was heading west on Highway 64 when she entered the left turn lane without yielding the right of way.
Unexpectedly, Snow made a left turn directly into the path of an eastbound 2014 Ram 3500 pickup truck. The Ram collided with the Kia, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
As a result of the collision, Snow sustained incapacitating injuries and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Tragically, a 7-year-old passenger in the Kia, Laiyah G. Mitchell, lost her life at the scene. Justice of the Peace James Meredith pronounced her deceased.
Another passenger in the Kia, 12-year-old Shaud D. Dewberry, suffered non-incapacitating injuries and was also taken to a local hospital for treatment, along with the driver of the Ram.
The Texas DPS is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether any other factors contributed to the tragic outcome. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends affected by this heartbreaking incident.
