Tragic Death of Former Golden Eaglets Star Ibrahim Babangida in Car Crash Mourned by Nigerians
Nigerians are grieving the tragic death of former Golden Eaglets star Ibrahim Babangida who lost his life in a fatal car accident. Ibrahim was involved in the accident alongside his elder brother Tijani Babangida on the notorious Kaduna-Zaria Road. While Ibrahim sadly passed away at the scene, Tijani, his wife, son, and maid sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.
Harrison Jalla, a prominent figure in the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), expressed deep sorrow over Ibrahim’s sudden demise. The PFAN officials, including General Secretary Emmanuel Babayaro, are actively involved in assisting the Babangida family during this trying time, ensuring that Islamic burial rites are carried out appropriately.
Emmanuel Babayaro, a former Super Eagles star, confirmed that Ibrahim Babangida’s funeral would take place after the Jumat prayer in accordance with Islamic customs.
Ibrahim Babangida, who was part of the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning Golden Eaglets squad and had stints with Nigerian clubs like Bank of the North, Stationery Stores, and Katsina United, later pursued a career in Europe, playing for Dutch side Volendam in 1997.
Notable figures like former Vice President of Nigeria Atiku Abubakar joined in expressing condolences to the Babangida family, offering prayers for the swift recovery of the injured individuals and peace for the departed soul.
