Trump Nbc Interview Economy Tariffs Mar A Lago

Palm Beach, Florida – President Donald Trump downplayed concerns about a potential recession and rising prices due to his tariffs during a recent interview with NBC NewsKristen Welker. The discussion, which aired Sunday, covered various topics, including his first 100 days in office and his future plans.

During the hour-long conversation, Trump defended his economic policies, emphasizing that many businesses would thrive under his tariffs on Chinese imports. “They’re not going to need it. They’re going to make so much money,” he asserted when discussing relief for small businesses impacted by the tariffs. He shifted focus to larger economic issues, stating that rising gasoline prices were a more pressing concern than the cost of goods like toys or pencils.

Despite facing scrutiny over his tariffs’ impact on consumer prices, Trump remained optimistic about his economic future. He attributed current uncertainty to the previous administration, promising that the transition would lead to a stronger economy. He noted that he believes the U.S. is on track for significant economic growth but acknowledged that some prices might increase in the short term.

Trump also addressed concerns regarding his adherence to democratic processes, particularly relating to the possibility of seeking a third presidential term despite the 22nd Amendment’s restrictions. “So many people want me to do it,” he stated, but added, “It’s not something I’m looking to do.” He mentioned Vice President JD Vance as a potential successor to his political movement.

On the immigration front, Trump highlighted his efforts to secure the southern border, stating that the number of people crossing illegally has decreased, despite legal challenges to his policies. He affirmed that he would continue to push for the emergency declaration related to border security.

The interview also touched on Trump’s foreign policy ambitions, including ongoing tensions with Iran and the conflict in Ukraine. He expressed a desire for a peaceful resolution in Ukraine, though admitting it may be difficult given the deep-seated animosities between the nations.

As he looks to expand his economic agenda, Trump discussed pending budget measures aimed at extending tax cuts and managing government spending. He emphasized his commitment to not cutting essential programs like Medicaid or Social Security and anticipates bipartisan support for his proposals.

Trump concluded by stating that he believes his administration’s policies will lead to a successful political outcome in the upcoming midterm elections, defying historical trends. “I think we’re going to turn that around easily,” he said, expressing confidence in his party’s prospects.
