Donald Trump 2025 Presidential Approval Ratings

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump‘s first week in his second term has been marked by a flurry of executive actions and a surprising uptick in public approval, according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll. The survey, analyzed by CNN data reporter Harry Enten, shows Trump’s net approval rating at +6 points, a significant improvement from his -3 rating when he first took office in January 2017.

“The American people really like what they are seeing, at least compared to where Donald Trump started eight years ago,” Enten said, referencing the poll results. Trump’s current approval rating is 9 points higher than when he began his first term, marking a historic turnaround for a U.S. president.

Enten noted that Trump is the only president in U.S. history to have a higher net approval rating in the first month of his second term than during his entire first term. “He was never over plus-3 during his first administration,” Enten said. “This is a very different Donald Trump. He’s leading a very different administration, and the American public is much more in line with him than they were during his entire first term.”

The poll, conducted ahead of the weekend, suggests that Americans are responding positively to Trump’s aggressive approach in his second term. “It’s not just that he is doing better than he did eight years ago,” Enten added. “It’s that he is doing better than he ever did during his entire first administration.”

Trump’s early executive actions have drawn both praise and criticism, but the poll indicates that, at least initially, the public is more supportive than in his first term. “The numbers are the numbers,” Enten emphasized. “I don’t make stuff up.”
