Trump Considers Replacing FBI Director Christopher Wray with Kash Patel

Kash Patel And Christopher Wray

Following his reelection, President-elect Donald Trump is contemplating significant changes within the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), including the potential replacement of current FBI Director Christopher Wray. Wray, who was appointed by Trump in 2017, has faced criticism from the President due to the FBI’s investigations into Trump over the past few years.

Kash Patel, a former Defense Department official and author of the book “Government Gangsters,” is being considered for several high-profile roles in the incoming administration, including the position of FBI Director, Attorney General, or CIA Director. Patel’s book has been endorsed by Trump, who described it as a “roadmap to end the Deep State’s reign”.

Patel’s vision for the FBI and Justice Department involves a “comprehensive housecleaning” and the eradication of what he terms “government tyranny.” He advocates for firing top ranks within the FBI and prosecuting officials who have allegedly abused their authority for political ends. Additionally, Patel has suggested stripping security clearances from officials involved in the “Russiagate” investigation, including those who have transitioned to private sector jobs.

While Trump’s transition team has not commented on the specifics of these plans, the speculation highlights a potential major shake-up within the Justice Department and the FBI. Wray is reportedly preparing for the possibility of being replaced, whether through being fired or asked to leave.
